The property was purchased by GreenSlate Development for $2.8 million. The company is planning to build a sprawling warehouse on the site, with a price tag of nearly $22 million. The company has filed a TIF application with the City of Omaha, citing the thriving industrial market in Omaha. The TIF debt would be paid with increased property tax revenue. This type of financing encourages economic development and is a public subsidy.
The omaha warehouse project is a part of a larger plan by the city to develop an industrial park near the airport. The state senators are also trying to assemble property for the park, which would be funded with $60 million in American Rescue Plan Act funds.
The Omaha Warehouse is situated on four acres of land, with five drive-in doors and a warehouse building. The property is located near 13th Street and Fort Street. It is expected to be completed in June. A-United is expected to move into the property next summer.
The complex floor slab was designed to accommodate heavy rack loading, and is engineered to extend long lengths without control joints. This means that the slab requires minimal maintenance.
